ASTM A53 Grade B Pipe Supplier in India — Seamless & ERW Carbon Steel Pipes

If you’re sourcing ASTM A53 B pipe, chances are you already know the basics, carbon steel, decent strength, used everywhere from refineries to plumbing risers. What matters more is who’s supplying it. Kalpataru Piping has been part of India’s carbon steel pipe supply chain long enough to know that a Mill TC on paper means nothing if the pipe doesn’t hold up on site. We stock and export ASTM A53 Grade B in both seamless and ERW construction, built to the ASME SA53 spec 60,000 psi minimum tensile strength, 35,000 psi yield, and chemistry that’s kept tight batch to batch. Whether you need a few lengths of Schedule 40 for a plumbing job or a full container of heavy-wall XXS for a pressure line, we run the same checks: chemical analysis, hydro testing, and third-party inspection where it’s called for. Sizes run from 1/2″ NB up to 48″ NB, and most common schedules sit in stock, so you’re not always waiting on a mill run. We’ve shipped this material across India and out to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa. You can read more about our background if you want the longer story — but honestly, the fastest way to know if we’re the right fit is to send us your size and quantity and see what we quote.

What Is ASTM A53 Grade B Pipe?

ASTM A53 is a carbon steel pipe specification covering seamless and welded, black and hot-dip galvanized pipe, published jointly with ASME as SA53. Grade B is the higher-strength variant of the standard, produced in three manufacturing types:

  • Type S (Seamless): Formed from a solid billet with no weld seam, offering the highest structural uniformity — ideal for high-pressure and critical service lines.
  • Type E (Electric-Resistance Welded / ERW): Cold-formed steel strip welded longitudinally by electric resistance — a cost-effective option for medium-pressure use.
  • Type F (Furnace-Welded / Continuous Welded): Produced by a continuous butt-weld process, generally limited to lower-pressure, non-critical applications.

Grade B specifically delivers a minimum tensile strength of 60,000 psi and yield strength of 35,000 psi — noticeably higher than Grade A — which is why it is the default choice for pressure piping, boiler lines, and structural steel work across refineries, power plants, and process industries. It is frequently specified alongside ASTM A106 Grade B pipe on the same project, and complements our low-temperature carbon steel A333 Grade 6 pipe range for cryogenic or sub-zero service lines.

ASTM A53 Grade B Pipe Applications & Industries Served

Where does this pipe actually end up? In practice, mostly here:

  • Oil & gas — flowlines, gathering systems, refinery piping runs
  • Power plants — boiler feed, steam lines, general utility piping
  • Petrochemical and chemical processing units
  • Ship-building, for structural and service piping on board
  • Water supply and fire-fighting networks
  • Structural steelwork and general fabrication
  • Low-pressure plumbing and HVAC lines

On fabrication-heavy jobs, clients usually pair this with our carbon steel buttweld fittings — elbows, tees, reducers — rather than sourcing fittings separately

Manufacturing Process & Quality Assurance

Nothing unusual here, and that’s the point — consistency matters more than cleverness. We start with billet or coil selection and check the chemistry before anything’s formed. Then hot-rolling or ERW forming, heat treatment where the spec calls for it, and a dimensional and visual check on every length. Depending on the order, that’s followed by hydrostatic testing or NDT, then marking and packing. OD, wall thickness, and length all get checked against ASTM A53 / ASME SA53 tolerances before anything ships, and Mill Test Certificates go out per EN 10204 3.1. If you want more detail on how we test or select grade, read our guides on pipe testing and grade selection.

Certifications & Standards

  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Certification
  • PED 2014/68/EU Pressure Equipment Directive compliance
  • ASTM A53 / ASME SA53 standard compliance
  • Mill Test Certificate per EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2
  • Third-party inspection through SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Lloyd’s Register, on request
  • IBR certification available where the pipe is going into a boiler application

FAQs – ASTM A53 Grade B Pipe

What is Incoloy pipe?

Incoloy pipes are high-nickel alloy pipes used in high-temperature and corrosive service. Key grades are 800, 800H, 800HT, and 825, each suited to specific temperature and corrosion conditions.

What is the difference between Incoloy 825 and Incoloy 800 pipe?

Incoloy 825 pipe excels in corrosive acid environments. Incoloy 800 pipe is preferred for high-temperature oxidizing service up to 816 degrees C. Both are ASTM-compliant.

What ASTM standard covers Incoloy 825 seamless pipe?

Incoloy 825 seamless pipes and tubes are covered under ASTM B423 and ASME SB423. Incoloy 800 series pipes are covered under ASTM B407. View Incoloy 825 Pipes Specifications.

Do you supply Incoloy 800H and 800HT pipes?

Yes. We supply Incoloy 800H (N08810) and 800HT (N08811) seamless and welded pipes to ASTM B407 in a full range of sizes and schedules. Explore Incoloy 800H Pipe Sizes.

What sizes are available for Incoloy pipes and tubes?

Incoloy pipes are available from 6.35 mm to 609.60 mm OD in SCH 5 to XXS. Custom sizes are available on request for all four grades.
