Corrosion Resistance of Incoloy 825 Fasteners
Incoloy 825 fasteners offer superior resistance across a wide range of corrosive environments, which is why they are widely specified for chemical processing, oil & gas, and marine applications:
- Sulfuric acid: Excellent resistance at concentrations up to 40% at moderate temperatures, owing to molybdenum and copper additions.
- Phosphoric acid: Good resistance, especially in wet-process phosphoric acid environments.
- Nitric acid: Superior resistance due to high chromium content.
- Organic acids: Resistant to acetic, formic, and other common organic acids.
- Chloride environments: Highly resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride-containing media.
- Seawater: Excellent performance in seawater and marine splash zones.
- Oxidizing & reducing media: Performs well in both oxidizing and reducing conditions, unlike many other nickel alloys.
- Alkalis: Good resistance to caustic solutions.
