Introduction to Inconel 625 Fasteners
Inconel 625 fasteners are premium-quality Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) fasteners made of a nickel-based alloy that is broadly known to have excellent corrosion resistance, performance up to temperature and strength. Alloy 625 Fasteners or Nickel Alloy 625 Fasteners are fasteners made of a combination of nickel, chromium, molybdenum and niobium that provide exceptional performance under extreme conditions.
Products include Inconel 625 Hex Bolts, UNS N06625 Inconel 625 Socket Head Cap Screws, 2.4856 Alloy 625 Hex Nuts, Inconel 625 bolts, alloy 625 bolts, alloy 625 nuts, threaded rods, studs, washers and U-bolts These fittings are engineered to be used in cryogenic temperature to 982 degrees Celsius without oxidation or stress corrosion cracking. Their machinability and dimensional accuracy provide long life in saline, acidic or alkaline conditions.
Advantages of Alloy 625 Fasteners
Alloy 625 Fasteners are used across industries for their superior material properties:
- Superior Corrosion Resistance: Resists crevice corrosion, pitting and stress corrosion in seawater, acids and alkalis.
- High Strength and Durability: Maintains integrity under high loads and extreme stress.
- Outstanding High-Temperature Performance: Operates reliably at temperatures up to 1000 degrees Celsius.
- Versatility: Applicable in marine, chemical, oil and gas, and aerospace industries.
- Good Weldability and Fabrication: Machinable and weldable with no performance loss.
- Long Service Life: High oxidation resistance with excellent mechanical fatigue and thermal cycling performance.
How Do Inconel 625 Fasteners Perform Under High-Stress Conditions?
UNS N06625 Fasteners maintain high mechanical performance under high stress, elevated temperatures and corrosive conditions. The niobium and molybdenum content of the alloy provide:
- Excellent creep resistance
- High fatigue strength
- Resistance to stress corrosion cracking
Inconel 625 Bolts, Alloy 625 Nuts and Socket Head Cap Screws are therefore ideal in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, turbines and offshore platforms where long-term reliability and dimensional stability are critical.
What Is the Difference Between Inconel 625 Fasteners and 825 Fasteners?
Even though both alloys are nickel-based and offer strong corrosion resistance, they differ in composition and performance. For a detailed comparison, read our blog on Inconel 625 vs Incoloy 825.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Inconel 625 hard to machine?
Yes, Inconel 625 connectors are difficult to machine, the alloy is hard, tough and hardens easily. Nevertheless, using the correct methods such as carbide or HSS tools, ample coolant, low cutting speed, high feed rate and positive-rake tooling, Inconel 625 bolts, nuts, screws and studs can be machined to the correct dimensions and quality finish.
Are Inconel 625 Fasteners magnetic?
The fasteners of Inconel 625 are basically non-magnetic. In normal circumstances the alloy reacts insignificantly to magnetism. There is minor magnetism when fasteners are subjected to cold working or when small ferromagnetic inclusions are present. Their non-magnetic nature means that they are ideal in aerospace, chemical, maritime and nuclear applications where electromagnetic interference is an issue that must be reduced.
What is the difference between Inconel 625 fasteners and Incoloy 825 fasteners?
Both are nickel-based alloys offering corrosion resistance, but their performance profiles differ:
- Inconel 625 fasteners: Higher strength, stable at elevated temperatures, excellent oxidation resistance and acid resistance. Preferred in aerospace, offshore and chemical plants.
- Incoloy 825 fasteners: Good corrosion resistance particularly in sulfuric and phosphoric acid environments, but lower high-temperature strength compared to 625. Used in chemical processing, oil and gas and pollution control.
In summary, 625 is more robust and heat-resistant, whereas 825 is more cost-effective for moderate corrosion conditions.
Is Inconel 625 stronger than steel?
Yes. The Inconel 625 fasteners are much stronger than other steel grades. This alloy has tensile strength of about 135 ksi and outstanding corrosion and heat resistance. Carbon or stainless steel fasteners are weakened with high temperature and Inconel 625 does not change its mechanical properties in harsh conditions and hence is the best to use in critical industrial processes.
What standards apply to Inconel 625 fasteners?
Inconel 625 fasteners standards are mainly ASTM F467 (nuts), ASTM F468 (bolts, screws and studs) and ASTM B446 (bar stock used to make fasteners). Dimensional standards include ASME B18.2.1, DIN 931/933 for bolts and DIN 934 for nuts. Forms threads are based on UNC, UNF, ISO Metric, BSW and BSF.
What is the operating temperature range of Inconel 625 fasteners?
The temperature range of Inconel 625 fasteners is between cryogenic (below minus 196 degrees Celsius) down to about 982 degrees Celsius (1800 degrees Fahrenheit). This unique selection gives them an application in either cryogenic storage systems or in hot industrial furnaces, gas turbines and chemical reactors.
