What is a Hastelloy C276 Flange?
Hastelloy C276 Flanges are manufactured from a special nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. The alloy is made from 50.99 percent nickel, 14.5 percent chromium, 15 percent molybdenum, and other components such as carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, cobalt, iron and phosphorus. The flanges have a melting point of 1370 degrees Celsius, making them suitable for higher temperatures. The Hastelloy C276 Flanges are highly durable and are made by forging from a single raw material to ensure their integrity. They have different sizes, standards and specifications, such as the UNS N10276 SORF Flange and ASTM B564 specification, with ANSI, ASME, EN and DIN standards.
The ASTM B564 Hastelloy C276 Pipe Flanges are available in a variety of pressure classes – 150 to 2500 and PN6 to PN64 – depending on design requirements. What's the difference between Hastelloy C276 flanges and stainless steel flanges?
Hastelloy C276 (UNS N10276) flanges are comprised of about 51 percent nickel, 15-17 percent molybdenum, and 14.5-16.5 percent chromium. This provides greater resistance to pitting, crevice and stress corrosion cracking than 316L stainless steel. The Hastelloy C276 forged flange can be used from cryogenic to 1370 degrees Celsius, much higher than standard austenitic stainless steels.
