What Is Monel Wire Mesh?
Monel wire mesh is a woven or welded screen made from Monel alloy — a nickel-copper alloy first developed for its natural resistance to seawater and corrosive chemical environments. Unlike standard stainless steel wire mesh, Monel wire mesh retains its strength and surface integrity in reducing environments such as hydrochloric and sulfuric acid, making it the material of choice for engineers who cannot risk mesh failure in aggressive media.
Two grades dominate industrial use: Monel 400 Wire Mesh (UNS N04400), the general-purpose corrosion-resistant grade, and Monel K500 Wire Mesh (UNS N05500), an age-hardened variant with added aluminium and titanium for significantly higher tensile strength.
