Super Duplex UNS S32760 offers excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, and for optimal corrosion resistance, a surface finish that is pickled or machined is recommended. Welding procedures for UNS S32760 are similar to those used for conventional duplex stainless steel grades, with electric arc welding processes being suitable for this super duplex stainless steel. However, welding is generally not recommended due to the risk of carbon pick-up in the weld area, so it’s advisable to consult your welding consumables supplier for detailed assistance and information on welding UNS S32760 super duplex.
While UNS S32760 (1.4501 F55) cannot be toughened by conventional heat treatments as it is a work-hardening steel, Super Duplex can be solution annealed at temperatures between 1110-1140°C, followed by water quenching.
