Kalpataru Piping is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high performance nickel alloy piping products, and exporting high quality Incoloy pipes & tubes products such as Incoloy 825 seamless pipes and tubes. Incoloy 825, also known as UNS N08825, is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that is supplemented with molybdenum, copper, and titanium. This special chemical structure offers superior resistance to reducing and oxidizing acid, stress-corrosion cracking, and localized attack including pitting and crevice corrosion.
We manufacture standard and custom sizes that are in compliance with ASTM B423 and ASME SB423 standards. Also known as Alloy 825 pipe, this is a material that is designed to withstand extreme levels of corrosion in the presence of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. We also supply wide range of Incoloy Products, we will make sure that we have ex-stock of UNS N08825 pipes and will have fast delivery of our products globally to key industries such as the chemical process and oil and gas.
Introduction to Incoloy 825 Alloy
Incoloy 825 (UNS N08825) is a fully austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy of titanium-stabilized with additions of copper and molybdenum. The amount of nickel is adequate to offer the chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking resistance. The nickel along with the molybdenum and copper also provides excellent resistance to the reducing environment including the sulfuric and phosphoric acid. The molybdenum also contributes to pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.
Incoloy 825 pipes have good mechanical characteristics in the cryogenic temperature to moderately high temperatures. Nevertheless, at temperatures of more than 1000°F (540°C) exposure may cause microstructural alterations (phase formation) drastically reducing ductility and impact strength. Alloy 825 has, therefore, not been commonly used in designs where creep-rupture properties are design factors.
Incoloy 825 vs Other Nickel Alloys
Incoloy 800, though mainly designed for the strengths and oxidation resistance at high temperatures, is developed on the aqueous corrosion resistance of Incoloy 825. Grade 825 is much better resistant to sulfuric acid because of the addition of Molybdenum (2.5-3.5%) and Copper (1.5-3.0%) which Grade 800 or stainless steel grades of Incoloy do not possess.
Incoloy 825 is a relatively cheap substitute to Inconel 625 in most acid service applications in which the very high temperature strength of 625 is not needed, although excellent corrosion resistance to 316L stainless steel is required.
Alloy 825 Seamless Pipe vs Welded Pipe
Kalpataru Piping offers Incoloy 825 in both seamless and welded forms. Alloy 825 seamless pipe is manufactured through cold drawing or extrusion process which makes it a homogenous structure that does not have a weld seam. This renders it the choice of high-pressure applications and severe corrosive services in which weld areas might be the possible sources of weakness.
Incoloy 825 welded pipes are made of strip or plate either by ERW or EFW. Modern welding methods and intensive heat treatment of welds, after welding, guarantee that the area of the weld has the same level of corrosion resistance as the base metal. The welded pipes tend to be cheaper when it comes to large diameter piping systems.
ASTM B423 & ASME SB423 Specifications
Our manufacturing process strictly follows international standards. The primary specification for seamless pipe and tube is ASTM B423 (ASME SB423). Welded pipes typically follow ASTM B705.

Applications & Industries Served
Incoloy 825 is particularly made to withstand aggressive corrosive environments. This is because its ability to handle sulfuric and phosphoric acids makes it indispensable in the chemical industry.
Chemical Processing & Petrochemical
Incoloy 825 pipes are widely applied in the manufacture of acid (sulfuric, phosphoric) and pickling processes as well as in processing radioactive wastes. The copper makes it survive in tanks and piping systems of sulfuric acid.
Oil & Gas Industry
Applied in hot sour gas wells where there are high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and chlorides. Downhole piping and separation units are commonly made with alloy 825 seamless tubing because it is resistant to sulfide stress cracking.
Heat Exchanger Applications
The alloy is used as a typical air-cooled heat exchanger (fin-fan coolers) material in refineries. To learn more about thermal applications, visit our heat exchanger tubes page.
Pollution Control Equipment
Scrubbers, stack gas reheaters and wet electrostatic precipitators use Incoloy 825 to resist the acidic, sulfur-rich condensate that is produced during flue gas desulfurization (FGD).
Quality Assurance & Testing
In Kalpataru piping, all the Alloy 825 pipes are strictly subject to quality control. To meet the standards of ASTM B423/SB423 we do this by:
- PMI Testing: To verify the Nickel (38-46%), Molybdenum, and Copper content.
- Mechanical Testing: Tensile and hardness testing.
- Intergranular Corrosion Test: To ensure resistance to grain boundary attack.
- NDT: Hydrostatic and Ultrasonic testing.
- Grain Size Analysis: To confirm proper annealing.
We provide EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates (MTC) and can arrange Third Party Inspection (TPI) like TUV, DNV, or SGS upon request.
