Introduction to Incoloy 825 Alloy
Kalpataru Piping is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-performance nickel alloy piping products. We specialise in Incoloy 825 Pipes and Tubes, also referred to as UNS N08825 or DIN 2.4858. Incoloy 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy supplemented with molybdenum, copper, and titanium. This unique chemical structure delivers superior resistance to reducing and oxidising acids, stress-corrosion cracking, and localised attack including pitting and crevice corrosion.
We manufacture standard and custom sizes in full compliance with ASTM B423 and ASME SB423 standards. Also referred to as Alloy 825 Pipe, this material is engineered to withstand extreme corrosion in sulfuric and phosphoric acid environments. Browse our complete Incoloy Products Range. We maintain ex-stock inventory of UNS N08825 Pipes for fast global delivery to the chemical process and oil and gas sectors.
Incoloy 825 vs Other Nickel Alloys
Incoloy 825 offers far superior resistance to reducing acids compared with Incoloy 800, owing to the addition of Molybdenum (2.5–3.5%) and Copper (1.5–3.0%), which Grade 800 and standard stainless steel grades do not possess.
Alloy 825 also serves as a cost-effective alternative to Inconel 625 in most acid service applications where the very high-temperature strength of 625 is not required, yet superior corrosion resistance beyond 316L stainless steel is essential.

Alloy 825 Seamless Pipe vs Welded Pipe
Alloy 825 Seamless Pipe is manufactured through cold drawing or extrusion, producing a homogenous structure free of weld seams. This makes it the preferred choice for high-pressure applications and severely corrosive services.
Incoloy 825 Welded Pipe (ERW / EFW) is produced from strip or plate. Post-weld heat treatment ensures the weld zone matches the corrosion resistance of the base metal. Welded pipes offer a cost advantage for large-diameter piping systems.

Applications & Industries Served
Chemical Processing & Petrochemical
Incoloy 825 Pipes are widely used in sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid manufacturing, pickling operations, and radioactive waste processing. The copper addition enables survival in sulfuric acid tanks and piping systems. See also Incoloy 825 Plates & Sheets.
Oil & Gas Industry
Applied in hot sour gas wells with high concentrations of H₂S and chlorides. Alloy 825 Seamless Tubing is commonly used for downhole piping and separation units due to its resistance to sulfide stress cracking.
Heat Exchanger Applications
A standard material for air-cooled heat exchangers (fin-fan coolers) in refineries. Incoloy 825 U-Bend Tubes and Incoloy 825 Heat Exchanger Tubes conform to ASTM B163 and ASTM B704.
Pollution Control Equipment
Scrubbers, stack gas reheaters, and wet electrostatic precipitators use Incoloy 825 to resist acidic, sulfur-rich condensate produced during flue gas desulfurisation (FGD).
Quality Assurance & Testing
All Alloy 825 pipes are subject to rigorous quality control in compliance with ASTM B423 / ASME SB423:
- PMI Testing — Verifies Ni (38–46%), Mo, Cu content
- Mechanical Testing — Tensile and hardness testing
- Intergranular Corrosion Test — Resistance to grain boundary attack
- NDT — Hydrostatic and ultrasonic testing
- Grain Size Analysis — Confirms proper annealing
We provide EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates (MTC) and can arrange Third Party Inspection (TPI) — TUV, DNV, or SGS — on request.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Incoloy 825 and 800?
Incoloy 825 contains significant additions of Molybdenum and Copper, which Incoloy 800 lacks. This gives Alloy 825 superior resistance to reducing acids (sulfuric, phosphoric) and localised corrosion. Incoloy 800 is primarily optimised for high-temperature oxidation resistance.
What is Incoloy 825 used for?
UNS N08825 Pipe is used in chemical processing (sulfuric and phosphoric acid plants), oil and gas (sour gas wells, downhole tubing), heat exchangers, pollution control scrubbers, and nuclear waste handling systems.
Is Incoloy 825 magnetic?
No. Incoloy 825 is a fully austenitic alloy and is essentially non-magnetic in the annealed condition.
What is the temperature rating for Incoloy 825?
Incoloy 825 Pipe performs well from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately 540 °C (1000 °F). Above this, microstructural changes can reduce ductility and impact strength. It is therefore not recommended for creep-rupture design applications.
What is the Incoloy 825 Pipe Price Per Kg in India?
The Incoloy 825 pipe price per kg in India depends on nickel market rates, pipe schedule, and quantity. Contact Kalpataru Piping for a current quotation. We accept LC, TT, and cheque payments.
